Metro Nashville Public Works provides garbage pickup to the majority of the
Metro Nashville/Davidson County area. To find out what route your neighborhood
is on, please visit http://www.nashville.gov/routelookup. You can
also contact Public Works directly at http://www.nashville.gov/pw/talktous.htm. If
your neighborhood does not happen to be within Metro Public Works' service
area, you will have to establish garbage pickup through an independent company.
You can find a list of independent waste management companies serving the
Nashville area through the online Yellow Pages.
Cable/Satellite Television
To establish cable television service within Nashville/Davidson County, contact
Comcast at 244-5900. For other counties,
contact the Tennessee Cable Telecommunications Association at 256-7037. To
establish satellite television service, contact Dish Network at 262-7099.
Vehicle Registration
To help control pollution, each vehicle registered in Nashville/Davidson County
must pass the Nashville Vehicle Inspection Test before Tennessee license tags
are issued. The cost is $10, paid in cash. For locations, times and
requirements, call the customer hotline at 399-8995. For information on
obtaining a Tennessee license plate, call the Davidson County Clerk's Office at
862-6050 or visit them on the web at www.nashville.org/cclerk/vehicles.htm.
Tennessee Driver's License
A Tennessee driver's license is issued by the state Department of Safety and
must be obtained within 30 days of establishing residency. Written, vision and
road tests, a photo and a $12.50-$26.50 fee are required. A valid out-of-state
license will exempt the road and written tests. Free handbooks are available at
